When a new site shows up in search
Realistic expectations, what happens in the first weeks, and what speeds indexing up.
A new site doesn't appear in search immediately. Search engines have to find it, crawl it and classify it first. Here's the usual timeline.
| When | What's happening |
|---|---|
| Days 1 – 3 | The site is discovered and crawling begins. You'll find it by searching the exact domain name. |
| Weeks 1 – 2 | Individual pages are added gradually. You'll be findable by company name. |
| Months 1 – 3 | The site starts appearing for specific services and common questions. |
| Months 3 – 6 | Positions stabilise. The effect of content and links becomes visible. |
What helps
- A business profile in search — if you have a physical location, it's the fastest way to become visible locally.
- Links from other sites — directories, partners, suppliers, industry pages.
- Regular new content — articles, references, case studies. Search engines visit more often where something is happening.
- Social media activity linking back to the site.
If you had an old site, nothing is thrown away — we redirect the old addresses to the new ones so you don't lose the positions you built over the years. A short-term dip in the first weeks is normal during a migration.
Be wary of emails promising “first place on Google within a week”. They're almost always a scam, and at worst they can damage your site.
