Launching on a subdomain
When a subdomain (e.g. shop.yourcompany.com) is the right call, and what needs setting up.
A subdomain is an address that sits in front of your main domain — for example shop.yourcompany.com, booking.yourcompany.com or test.yourcompany.com. Your main site can keep running exactly where it runs today.
When a subdomain makes sense
- You want to test the new site live while the old one is still running.
- You're launching a separate project — a shop, a booking system, a campaign page.
- You have multiple language or regional versions handled separately.
What needs setting up
- 1Send us the exact subdomain name you want to use.
- 2We'll send you a single value — a CNAME record.
- 3In your domain's DNS settings add a new CNAME record, put just the first part in the name field (e.g.
shop) and our value in the value field. - 4Save and let us know. We'll issue the security certificate automatically.
