Going live on HostCreators when your domain is with Websupport
The most common launch scenario: the domain stays with Websupport, the site runs with us. Send this to your client — it says exactly what to click and where.
A domain at Websupport and a website on our hosting at HostCreators are two separate things. You don't have to move the domain anywhere — it stays where it is and you keep paying for it at Websupport. All that changes is where it points.
What we need from you
- The exact domain name the site should run on — e.g.
yourcompany.com. - Whether the main version should be with
wwwor withoutwww. - Access to the Websupport control panel (
admin.websupport.sk) — or a person who can make the changes there following our instructions. A temporary permission on the domain works too, no password sharing needed. - Where your company email lives — Websupport, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or somewhere else.
What we'll send you
Once your domain is added to our hosting, we'll send you the values to enter into the domain's DNS settings at Websupport:
| Record type | For address | Value |
|---|---|---|
| A | leave empty | the IP address we send you |
| CNAME | www | the address we send you |
| TXT | leave empty | the verification string proving the domain is yours |
Step by step
- 1Log in to the control panel at
admin.websupport.sk. - 2In the list of services click Administration next to your domain, then pick DNS in the left-hand menu.
- 3Screenshot every tab —
A,CNAME,MX,TXT. It's your safety net — if anything goes wrong you can restore the original state. - 4On the A tab, change the record for the bare domain to the IP address we sent you.
- 5Do the same for
www— depending on whether we sent you anAor aCNAME. - 6On the TXT tab, add the verification record we sent you. Once verified you can simply leave it there.
- 7Save, then let us know — we'll verify the setup and issue the certificate for the secure connection.
When our team should manage DNS and email too
The other option is repointing the domain's nameservers at ours. We then manage the whole zone and you never have to touch DNS again. At Websupport you'll find it under your domain in the DNS section, on the Nameserver tab — switching from “Default Websupport NS” to “Custom NS”. All four need to be entered:
ns1.hostcreators.skns2.hostcreators.skns3.hostcreators.skns4.hostcreators.eu
When it starts working
Websupport states that an A record change takes effect on their own servers within 15 minutes and at other providers usually within 2 hours. A nameserver change takes longer — normally 24 to 48 hours. The site and email keep working throughout; they simply switch over to the new setup gradually.
Do we have to transfer the domain to HostCreators?
No. The domain can stay with Websupport and you keep paying for it there. You don't need a transfer to launch the site — it only makes sense if you want everything in one place.
Will the site be down during the switch?
No. The old site keeps serving until the new address propagates, and the new one is prepared and tested before the switch. A visitor sees either the old or the new version — never a blank page.
We can't get into the Websupport account. What now?
Try a password reset to the contact email listed on the domain. If nobody has access to that address any more, Websupport support can help — they'll ask you to prove you own the domain. Get in touch and we'll walk through it with you.
