Setting up your company mailbox on a phone

Steps for iPhone and for Android. Nothing extra to download — both have it built in.

You can add your company mailbox straight into the app already on your phone. Nothing gets downloaded, and your existing mail and other mailboxes are left alone — this simply adds one more.

What to have ready

  • Your full email address, e.g. you@yourcompany.com.
  • The mailbox password we sent you.

iPhone and iPad

  1. 1Open Settings and find Mail. On newer systems it sits under Apps.
  2. 2Tap Accounts, then Add Account.
  3. 3Choose the very last option in the list — Other.
  4. 4Tap Add Mail Account and fill in your name, full email address, password and any description.
  5. 5On the next screen leave IMAP selected at the top.
  6. 6For the incoming mail server enter imap.hostcreators.sk, for the outgoing mail server smtp.hostcreators.sk.
  7. 7Enter your full email address as the username for both, plus the password. Even though the outgoing section says “optional”, fill it in.
  8. 8Tap Next and wait for verification, then save.
If verification drags on and then asks whether you want to continue without encryption, say no. Go back and check the server addresses — there's usually a typo in one of them.

Android

Android phones differ a little between manufacturers, but the route is always the same. Below is the path through the Gmail app, which comes preinstalled on most phones and handles company mailboxes without trouble.

  1. 1Open the Gmail app and tap your profile picture in the top right.
  2. 2Choose Add another account and pick Other from the list.
  3. 3Enter your full email address and tap Next.
  4. 4When the app asks for the account type, choose Personal (IMAP).
  5. 5Enter the mailbox password.
  6. 6For the incoming server enter imap.hostcreators.sk, for the outgoing smtp.hostcreators.sk. The username is your full email address in both.
  7. 7Finish the wizard. The mailbox appears in the list alongside your others.
If the phone offers POP3 as the account type, don't take it. It would pull the mail down onto the phone and it would then be missing on your computer.

If something won't work

Mail arrives but won't sendFill in the username and password under outgoing mail — they're often left blank.
If you get stuck, just call us and we'll walk through it together on the phone. It takes a few minutes and there's nothing to be embarrassed about — these screens were not designed for ordinary people.
