Setting up your company mailbox in Outlook
Step by step for Outlook on the computer and on mobile — including what to do when Outlook guesses the settings itself and gets them wrong.
Outlook comes in several versions and each looks a little different. The steps below cover the ones you're most likely to meet. They all amount to the same thing — telling Outlook this is an IMAP mailbox and giving it the server details.
What to have ready
- Your full email address, e.g.
you@yourcompany.com. - The mailbox password we sent you.
- A few minutes — the setup takes about five.
New Outlook on Windows
- 1Open Outlook and click the gear icon in the top right (settings).
- 2In the left column choose Accounts, then Email accounts.
- 3Click Add account and type your full email address.
- 4When Outlook asks for the account type, choose IMAP. If it offers to sign you in with Microsoft, don't take that option.
- 5Enter the mailbox password.
- 6For incoming mail enter the server
imap.hostcreators.skand port993; for outgoing,smtp.hostcreators.skand port465. Leave SSL/TLS on for both. - 7Confirm. Outlook will load the mailbox — with a lot of mail this can take a while.
Classic Outlook on Windows
- 1In the top menu click File, then Add Account.
- 2Type your full email address, but don't continue yet — first open Advanced options.
- 3Tick Let me set up my account manually and only then continue.
- 4Pick IMAP from the list of types.
- 5Fill in the incoming server
imap.hostcreators.sk, port993, encryption SSL/TLS. - 6Fill in the outgoing server
smtp.hostcreators.sk, port465, encryption SSL/TLS. - 7Enter the password and finish the wizard.
Outlook on mobile
- 1In the app open the menu in the top left and tap the gear icon.
- 2Choose Add account, then Add email account.
- 3Type your full email address and tap continue.
- 4When the app asks for a provider, choose IMAP.
- 5Expand the advanced settings and fill in the servers and ports exactly as on the computer.
Outlook says it can't connect to the server.
Check three things: that the username box holds the full email address, that the port numbers match, and that SSL/TLS is on for both servers. The fault is usually one of those.
Have I lost the old email from my previous account?
No. Adding a new mailbox leaves existing accounts untouched — they sit side by side. If you need mail moved from an old mailbox into the new one, get in touch and we'll do it for you.
Can I have the same mailbox in Outlook and on my phone?
Yes, and it's common. With IMAP both devices are looking at the same mail on the server.
